Excited to Launch! I've been wanting to launch a podcast for over a year now. This time, I got super serious. I've heard great things about EOFire, so I decided to grab this book ASAP. The video tutorials and recommendations were huge for me. I got my microphone and my recording software within a day of buying the book. I'm excited to launch my podcast and appreciate all of the advice!

short and sweet and contains a million links to his own affiliate links or products but gives you a better insight in the process of launching. I was it was more focused on launching and not so much on the products he's trying to sell us. Here's my notes: 1. write down your perfect listener and gear all episodes to that person. Sounds like an idea but maybe for me not to be that strict. 2. If you're going to use music / sounds checkout pond5.com 3. Tagging Mp3 files with ID3 edit 4. This book lays some solid principles with how to create and monetize your podcast. Should you expect a detailed plan to start your podcast? No. However, JLD has amounted so much success with his podcast that anyone can benefit with some basic to intermediate strategies laid out in this book. He also has a free website where more material is covered in depth. Definitely worth more than what I paid for this book.

My first book on podcasting - informative and inspiring! This is my introduction into the world of podcasting. I am appreciative of the advice, the information and the videos offered by the author. This book is a MUST read by any podcast newbie; if you are a beginner, like me, follow his informative infomation and act on his advice.

Good motivation The book is light on what to do as far as recording your podcast. It does provide valuable information on how to approach podcasting as a business. I did not view the videos but will for sure to get the technical aspect down that was lightly covered in the book by design.

John Lee Dumas is the podcaster behind the extremely successful Entrepreneurs on Fire podcast. The book begins with the story about how Dumas became a podcaster. The bulk of the book offers advice about how to develop and launch a podcast. In this book you will find guidance for how to come up with ideas for your new show, what type of tech and equipment you will need, how to list your show on iTunes, and suggestions about how you can monetize your show 6-18 months after you launch. I found the ideas and process for monetization to be the most helpful part of this book. Admittedly, I have already launched my podcast so I read this book having already conducted all of the research about how to develop show ideas, what type of tech and equipment I needed, and how to list my show on iTunes. With that said, if Dumas' book had come out 18 months ago when I started developing my show, it would have saved me a bit of time as it is a rather complete guide on how to start a podcast. So why isn't this book a 5-star book? I wanted more. Dumas has a lot of experience as an interviewer and podcaster. I wanted this book to share more about how to put together a successful interview-driven podcast and his tips for conducting interviews. I have heard him speak on other podcasts and he has a lot of great advice to share on this topic, unfortunately he left it out of this book. Additionally, this book often read like an advertisement for his Podcasters Paradise mastermind community (he provides a $200 coupon in the introduction) and his show. Naturally, Dumas uses Entrepreneurs on Fire as an example throughout the book. He admits that his daily, business-themed show is special case. He is in a great category for monetization and his daily episodes provide him with huge download numbers and many more sponsorship opportunities than are available to weekly or twice monthly podcasts. Therefore Dumas rightly counsels readers that his show is different and that they should not use his show as a typical example. As a man who knows many podcasters, it baffles me why Dumas didn't reach out to his network and find more typical examples to use in this book. He could have said these are the subscription and growth rates for Entrepreneurs on Fire, but here are figures for more typical podcasts. Or these are the monetization techniques that work for Entrepreneurs on Fire, but here are examples of how others are monetizing their weekly or twice monthly shows in these different categories. The lack of inclusion of more well-rounded details only adds to the feeling that this book is a piece of advertising copy. With that said, if you want to know how to start a podcast, you will find this book a helpful and well-priced guide ($2.99).

If you have any interest in working with podcasts or questions about how they work, I recommend this book. The author uses his experience with podcasts, first as a listener, then as a broadcaster, to which he added coaching, to illustrate his recommended process. The book organized in a manner that moves, as Dumas did, from interest, to delivery, step by step. I began to see more value in podcasts and understand the appeal for people who want to use drive time or commute time to learn. I liked the book from the beginning, but was even more impressed when I went to the author's website and listened to the podcasts he has available. His style involves an interview with an entrepreneur and has a consistent system for the topic which keeps the information flowing, yet conversational.

The GOOD: There is some genuinely good information in this book. It's a quick read, and has smart advice. It's also pretty cheap. The BAD: This should not be a paperback. This looks like a series of blog posts that the author put in print. There are many times where he is obviously linking for more information: "Click or tap here." The author put zero effort into formatting this for print. This book doesn't even have page numbers! This book is a good primer for podcasting. There's nothing earth-shatteringly original, other than the fact that the author has a massive production schedule that very few people have ever matched. It does lay out the basics for what you need to do to prepare, create, launch and make money from podcasting and can be read in a single sitting. The videos that come along with the book can show you visually what's being described in each chapter, so it's very clear how to go about what the author is This book is a good primer for podcasting. A Ultimate Guide To Podcasting I honestly wish I had this guide before I started podcasting! I skipped a few steps doing it on my own and that's why John is totally right about 99% of podcasters totally doing it all wrong. This is a true gem that holds up today and is straight forward with videos, links and every avenue of help you can ask for. The only way to fail after reading this is not following it step by step. Read it, absorb it, read it again, watch the videos and implement. Then use it as A Ultimate Guide To Podcasting I honestly wish I had this guide before I started podcasting! I'm getting ready to launch a new podcast, and this book came to me at the right time. This is a really short ebook. I think I was expecting something longer and more in-depth, but it does give enough basic tips to make it a must-buy for anyone launching a new podcast. There are several bits of advice that I never would have thought of, and which are invaluable to getting started successfully. Spends a lot of time on sponsors Spends a lot of time on sponsors From the founder of EntrepreneurOnFire. He's a big success, I get it. A lot of the best content here is actually in videos, which is cool. Some good advice, but it's buried under shameless self promotion. Also cool. I would have liked some more concrete facts or opinions though.
