This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This is what happens when I buy a book with NO previous reviews. I get screwed over. Because this book was so bad and I mean horribly bad. Not even the writing was good. Christ, I should've stopped reading but nooo. Or how about the fact that she lets her pimp (Tony) hit her and all he has to do is apologize and she continues as if nothing happened! Oh no wait...but he says he loves her but cheats on her and she's okay with this because, you know, he imagined that he was screwing Tara so that makes it fine. Then, our hero, Cyrus, who is a huge moron and thinks he's God's gift, takes Tara to his house after he sees she's been beaten. Now you'd think he was going to look after her and help her to stand on her own two feet after everything she's been through with Tony. Oh ho, that's hilarious. Nope, he screws her, oh yes, he has sex with her that same night, taking her virginity and Tara lets him because she decided her pimp couldn't have it. But she loved her pimp, so when exactly did these feeling went away? All of the sudden, she feels Cyrus won't hurt her, and how does Cyrus repay her? He is beyond furious he was her first. He assumed because she is a stripper and almost porn star, she wasn't a virgin. He saw an opportunity in Tara to get laid and he took it. Now he regrets that decision. And All Tara does is run away with some stolen cash and apologizes for upsetting him. Oh.my.god. Is there any way to turn back in time and delete this from my head? I swear I'm usually more generous with my reviews but I can't lie. No, I just won't lie. S perhaps I am the minority here but no way am I recommending this book to anyone.

A-MA-ZING!! Excellent book Ms. Fields!!! I truly loved it!! Cyrus totally surprised me in this book. He was kind of mysterious in all the previous books, but Boy Howdy, did he shine in this book!!! And Tara, his little Birdie, was just out of this world! There wasn't anything about this book I would change!! (Now if Jase had just been more like this....oh my Lordy...be still my heart!!) ;) This book picks up where the previous book ended so it is easy to picture where everyone in the Steel family A-MA-ZING!! We met Tara in the last book, and might I say, that was quite a character introduction!! ;) (I was hoping she would become the one to show us the kind of man Cyrus is to his family and friends--loyal, fierce, protective, strong, brave, loving, and caring do not even begin to cover the depth of this man). He is broken like Jase, but just in a different way. He keeps his hurt close and only wants to show Birdie as he gets to know this beautiful, but equally broken woman. Her life was one that was heartbreaking. She has been searching for love and happiness and has made some not so great choices in who she put her trust into, but once she meets Cyrus, she is drawn to him like no other! Its also great to see more of the guy's mother, Momma Joe, and learn more of her story as well. Of course it was equally great to see Carly, Jase, Little Bell, and the return of Zandor. I missed Abe though and would have liked an update on Carly's crazy family. Ms. Fields had hit her stride in this beauty!! I cannot wait for more!! ;)

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I gave this book 5 stars. This is book 2 in the Men of Steel Book. Let me say this too .. this can be read as a stand alone. BUT i would suggest that you read the 3 books before this. Yes this is number two but there is a .05-- a 1 and a 1.5 to be read. You will get a little confused and probably not enjoy it as much if you read this one first. This is Cyrus and Tara's story. Here we go... You will get a little confused and probably not enjoy it as much if you read this one first. This is Cyrus and Tara's story. Here we go... Cyrus is a troubled alpha male, who is not all about candy and flowers. He is blunt and says how it is. Tara, I loved her she is such a strong female character who has just got bad things out of life, and is looking for more, needing more. These two together are life on fire! I read Jase before I read this and I was a little scared that I wouldn't enjoy it as much because Jase is .. I mean come on it's Jase. but Cyrus was just wow. So much different then his brother, but just as toxic .. These bad boys are an inferno !! What do you get when you put an alpha male together with a girl that is just as strong. You get Cyrus and Tara and a whole lot of OMG's !! Tara is tired of being hurt and Cyrus is just the man she needs to stand up to her and tell her how it is, how beautiful she really is. And the soft part of Tara? Yeah Cyrus for sure needed her. When we are introduced to her in Jase's book I just knew she was going to be a strong character and needed to be with one of the Steel men. They need to have strong leading ladies that won't let them get away with all their crap. And she is just the girl to do it. She has been hurt in life but that doesn't mean that she is not a feisty firecracker. Yes it is tough to love Cyrus, but what better female to do it.. He is going to be hard to tame. But it is going to be fun reading him learn how to be!! haha!! Come on Cyrus' journey as he falls in love with Tara. And see what love is all about. Thank you MJ for your amazing, wonderful stories. This is not the first that I have read from you and it def will not be my last! Do NOT ever stop writing you have such a gift!!! <3 I look forward to reading the next one!! I am just going to be so sad when we run out of brothers. Momma Joe sure did a good job with all these beautiful men!!!

I can’t really do a review without mentioning the first three books in the series – 0.5 Men of Steel, 1 Jase, 1.5 Jase and Carly: Summer Lovin’ and of course 2, Cyrus. I hadn’t heard of this author or these books until the tour came up and I am so very glad because I love a hot tattoo, pierced bad ass **swoon** First we meet Jase and Carly in Men of Steel Novella, followed my Jase a full length book. During these books we get to meet their families and Jase’s family sounds so hot and foul mouthed. During these books we get to meet their families and Jase’s family sounds so hot and foul mouthed. Both these books had me crying with laughter in places because they had some friggin hilarious bits thanks to Carly. While reading these, I could not wait to get to Cyrus’ book and it was so worth waiting for. Cyrus is an ex seal with a whole lot of attitude, until you’re someone he loves. He meet’s Tara initially through Carly during the book Jase and I just knew they where going to end up together. Cyrus rescues her from an unpleasant situation and has trouble keeping his hands to himself, although Tara never complains. He tries to distance himself from her, but he’s always drawn back to where she is and he’s the only one who finds her when she runs thinking he’s better off without her, which ends up being the reason why he turns his back on her toward the end. He is one badass guy with a heart of gold along with his brothers whose stories I can’t wait to read. Each book has a HEA (Happily Ever After) so basically NO cliffhanger. I wish I could give these books 6 stars because I loved them and they sure got me out of the reading funk I was in, although I’m probably going to be back in it now. I loved them and can’t wait for more from this series. Saying that, I have to mention that constantly saying ‘she shook her head yes’ drove me crazy because where I come from shaking your head means NO and nodding your head means yes, I also felt lost once or twice and had to flit back to see if i've missed something because the story did jump a bit and there where words missing and grammar problems. i.e. had'nt instead of hadn't and spaces between punctuation. I'm terrible at grammar, but even I spotted these.

Cyrus is the oldest of the Steel brothers, and like most of them he isn't interested in relationships. In fact, he has a 3 ride rule before you are forced to move on. That rule is going to be tested when he meets Tara, aka Birdie. She's a sweet girl that is in a world of trouble. There is just something about her that calls to his protective spirit. This book had some hot parts, but the characters bugged me a bit. Perhaps it is because I had expectations since I read book 1 and 4 already. Tara's character just annoyed the hell out of me - she plays the wounded bird well, but I grew tired of it. There were aspects of Cyrus's character from the previous book that never appeared in this one, and I was hoping they would. This one was just average for me.

I read Jase (Men of Steel #1) right before I read Cyrus. I really enjoyed Jase’s story, but I absolutely LOVED Cyrus’s story! Cyrus immediately struck me as a troubled alpha male but as the story proceeded, I realized just how troubled he was. The book kept you wondering if he could ever move on from his past in order to allow himself to love Tara like he should. Tara was a troubled soul herself. With the loss of her family and the struggles she had faced over the years in the foster system, she I read Jase (Men of Steel #1) right before I read Cyrus. She was the type of character that I love to see though, no matter how difficult her circumstances, she wanted to be better and wanted to love and be loved. The journey that faced these two in the book was a very emotional one. I enjoyed every minute of the book. I loved reading more about Jase & Cyrus’s family. I also enjoyed that music was a part of the story. I love books that include music. The book made me laugh and cry at times but most of all, it made me want to keep reading. That, to me, is the sign of a great book. When I can’t put it down (or in my case–go to sleep), then I know I have a good book! I can’t wait to read more in this series and learn more about the Steel brothers! Five stars all the way on both Jase and Cyrus! Review Blog to come in blog tour!

Cyrus by M.J. Fields had me extremely confused at the beginning, and I believe some of that contributes to the fact that maybe this is not a standalone. Characters were in and out, with no background at all. I couldn't follow some of the events that took place, because the topic changes were so frequent. There were times when some of the wording confused me a bit. When it was Cyrus' POV there seemed to be a lot of rambling and ranting going on, which added to my initial confusion. I read a lot of romances where the hero is a bad ass, womanizing, douche bag, but he eventually redeems himself in the end and I fall in love with his character. With Cyrus, I didn't get the end game with him. I didn't fall in love, which was sad because of how he helped out his Birdie. I just didn't get the fluttering in my stomach when there was interaction between the main characters. I liked the storyline. It was heartbreaking and emotional, but again, it didn't stay with me all the way through. I feel like this author's style of writing has potential, but I can't recommend this book.

Cyrus is a little harsher than Jase but the man does things out of love he just doesn't know how to show that love properly, "I paid for half an hour with you. I don't expect s*** from you, but I do expect you to tell me if something my shop did is hurting you. If it's infected Birdie you need someone to check it out." Sometimes he's a man that's all bark and does it for good reason and has Tara's best interests at heart, "I couldn't let go, I wouldn't," No Birdie, you cry damn it. I liked Cyrus just not as much as Jase.

I thought I loved Jase, but then I met his brother Cyrus and I was a goner! I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! Cyrus has one rule with his women, three times and he's done.. he doesn't want strings attached and thinks he's not good enough for a relationship. I knew the minute he went looking for her, that as much as a he didn't want to admit it, he definitely felt something for this girl. I loved how their "Friendship" evolved and how much we got to see Tara grow in this book. At first I thought she was a naive little girl, and maybe she was, but through out the book she really grew and became a strong woman knowing what she wants out of life. I felt for her on so many levels and was happy to see her get a HEA! Cyrus and Tara do not have a relationship is easy, and everyone but Cyrus can see how he feels about Tara, but I loved that up until the end you really did not know if this was going to work for these two. It was funny to see him finally get some sense knocked into him. I love these men in this series and can't wait to see what the other brothers have in store for us. Cyrus is a stand alone, but I recommend reading Jase first so you can meet him and Carly, as they do make appearances in this book. I am quickly falling in love with M.J. Fields' books and will be putting her on my "Must Read" list for anything she releases.

Cyrus is a hottie!! I am going with 3.7 to 4 stars. I do believe Fields has great potential and will continue to hone her writing skills. She does an excellent job of writing a true alpha male. Cyrus was quite the manho but let every girl know up front it.was a 3 time deal and no more. We met Tara a bit in the last book and I will say at times she frustrated me. The entire issue with Tony and the porn seemed quite real but then became less believable. How could she not know what Tony was doing to Cyrus is a hottie!! I am going with 3.7 to 4 stars. I understand her very limited life experiences but it was as if she had been under a rock at times. For me at times, she was too needy. I was thankful to watch her growth as a woman towards the last part of the book. I enjoyed their little dance around the 3 time deal. I truly laughed out loud at her first job and the NEW employee rules. As Christoph read aloud ALL of the new rules, including new work outfits, no fraternization, and lunch served each day, I just chuckled. Poor Cyrus. He was fighting so hard what was right in front of him. I appreciated the woman that Tara became when she laid it ALL out there to Cyrus before he left for Italy. She could have fallen apart, but she took the time to grow into herself, learn to take care of herself and be independent. I really liked that for her. The ending is a sweet one and Cyrus takes the plunge. Him as a Tin Man was so cute and his jealousy over Christoph was hilarious! We also got a nice set up for Zandors' book!!

This book was pretty emotional but i loved it, the writing had me from the outset and i couldn’t set it down.

This book was refreshing! It made me laugh lots, it was hot and really fun to read. It's not safe, but it's safe enough for me (and if you know me, what I'm against is when I feel like one person is being wronged). In the beginning of this book, he gets with OW and she's also with her then dickhead "bf". Anyways, that part is short and after those scenes it's all safe. I loved Cyrus and he made me lol! And I loved how much he cared for Tara! Loooooved his alphaness too ;)

Love Cyrus This series is getting better and better. I loved Cyrus and Tara(Birdie) and the sex was hot between them. I felt for Tara and what she went thru and I got what Cyrus was doing making her strong and not need anyone but herself but when he left it was hard to read because you know they are good together. I loved the ending and can't wait to read the next book in this series

DNF @ 15%. I stopped reading this pretty early bc of the h. She grew up in foster care then ends up on the streets. She is taken in my a man who forces intimacy on her and tapes it so he can make money. The h is really stupid and does whatever he asks bc she believes he loves her. It was really disgusting. Plus the H is a total man-whore and his activities just drip of STDs.

3.5* I enjoyed Tara and Cyrus' story. Cyrus is a total control freak, which is exactly what Tara needs. I enjoyed how Tara finally told him just what he needed to hear, even though it took a bit of time for him to accept it. I'll move along to the next book.

Ok....so this was a lot better than Jase's story, but I still had problems with it. The first 50% was pretty solid for me. There was a good flow, story development, and I really liked Cyrus. Tough and a little broken, but sweet and caring with a bit of a hero complex. I didn't know how to feel about Tara. She was off and on for me, but I liked her a whole lot better than I did Carly. Here are some of my issues--LIttle Bell had just turned 6 in Jase's book, but now she was nearly ten? Cyrus' story picked up right where Jase and Carly's took off. So how has 3 years passed? This wasn't the only time that plot/timeline blurred and was confusing and there were a lot of grammatical errors that threw me. The dialogue was a lot better in this story, but there were still places that didn't make sense, didn't add up, or just weren't necessary. I'm having a hard time with how the female characters are in this series. I don't like feeling like the girl is falling all over herself for a man. It seemed like the last 50% was rushed and didn't round out the way I felt it should. I didn't get big feels or need them to get together, but wanted them to. I guess all in all, it was a decent story. It just felt superficial. Lots of potential for it to be more than it was. I am looking forward to Zandor's story though. He may be my fave. And where was Xavier? He was totally MIA in this book. Not even a mention of where he was. If you are looking for a quick read with hot scenes then I say go for it. If you are looking for lots of feels and an epic story, you may want to pass.

Where to begin when writing this review? From the word go, this book had so much going against it. The writing confused me and the characters left me a little baffled. All I kept thinking was... I'm not going to like this! I'm really not going to like this! But holy shit because at some point very early on, I began to love it. I started overlooking all the things that were bugging me because the story was just so brilliant and the characters... well let's just say they had me by the balls. Cyrus and Birdie just had to get their HEA and I wanted to be there to share in that joy and so I read like a woman possessed by the devil. Why the fuck would I want a relationship that I had to worry about feelings, and dates, and hearts, and flower shit so that I could make love to a chick? Fuck the pleasantries! New rule for me since then, three times that's it. Meet Cyrus ladies. Yup, you got three rides on his train and then your journey was up!!! Lol. Those were the rules he lived by. He wasn't rude or cruel with it, just open, honest and upfront from the beginning. I loved his character. Cyrus was a whole heap of alpha, he was strong, he was fearless and he was loyal to those he loved. Never fuck with his family!!! He had a heart of pure gold and he had a wicked, witty sense of humour that I honestly didn't expect... it was definitely appreciated though. What I did discover about this man was that he harboured his own secrets: The ink embedded on my arm was my story for me, a visual reminder of what life was and what life is. I wouldn't tell anyone what hell, devastation or pain I had seen or caused. But I could let them see it. Cyrus' ink sounded just beautiful from the description given but the story behind the various tattoo's was tragic and heart breaking. His story was one I would have to wait for ... it lurked in the back ground with the main focus being on Birdie. Birdie (Tara) lost her parents at the age of five and ended spending her childhood going from one foster home to another. Unfortunately the system spat her out at the age of eighteen and she was left to fend for herself. Her story was just soul destroying. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't hearts and flowers. In fact the only man who ever said he loved her was a low life, scum of the earth bastard who used, abused and manipulated her. The two years she spent with this man were horrific and made for very difficult reading. I could feel the heat rising in my face and I could feel the anger building as I read some of the scenes. They were brutal and harrowing. Some would say it wasn't realistic but I would say, open your eyes. The real world can be a bitch and this (unfortunately) goes on right under people's noses!!! Birdie was the type of character I wanted to wrap up in cotton wool. She was just so fragile and so vulnerable. However there was a real inner strength that surfaced now and again and that just made my heart swell. It gave me a sense of pride that she was finally turning things around for herself. It was a gradual change though which made it all the more realistic for her character. He pushed me to look at myself differently. He pulled me kicking and screaming out of my darkest hours. He comforted me and talked to me through hurt and anger, and he listened when a bad man wouldn't have. From the word go, Cyrus was drawn to his little Birdie but I knew the minute he saved her, it would open a whole can of worms on both sides... and how right was I. I loved watching the merry little dance between these two. I could see feelings and desires growing with each turn of the page but I could also sense the internal battle... Cyrus never promised Birdie anything more than what he promised the others but trying to win that fight was getting more and more difficult as each day passed: I'll fuck you better than you've ever been fucked before, hard and wild, Birdie. No more than three hook ups. Do you understand that? That way no one gets hurt. No expectations. The closer these two got, the more they uncovered about each other and Birdie was starting to get a little close to the TRUTH... the real truth. I wanted so desperately for Cyrus to bare his soul... I wanted in on the meaning of those tattoo's but in the same breath, I was worried about the repercussions. What impact would that have on the none relationship between these two? Would it push them apart? The secondary characters in "Cyrus" in the form of his family were just amazing. Momma Jo and Carly stole my heart and had me in stitches with their stories. And as for the brothers... there was such camaraderie and so much love between them... this was how I pictured an old school Italian family. Overall, the story of "Cyrus" was brilliant. It was well thought out and definitely had me holding my breath a few times. The characters were just brilliant and their development spot on to what I would expect. However, I have to say, the writing itself was at times appalling. There were sentences and paragraphs that went from past tense to present tense where there was no need and the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors were there in abundance. There were also incidences where scenes jumped in terms of time and events, where I was given no warning that this had happened and was left firstly feeling a little confused and then left to work it out on my own!!! My biggest frustration... "she shook her head "yes." You do not shake your head to yes. You nod your head!!!! Arrggghhh!!! Not good when folk are paying for a book. These were simple things that should have been picked up by beta readers or through editing!!!! So this is where I struggle. I'm not sure how to rate this book. The story line and characters definitely got a 5 but the writing and the number of errors would only get a two. I was able to overlook some of these bug bears but I'm not sure everyone who paid for the book would. I'm going to rate "Cyrus" 4 Hearts. I can't give it any less because I couldn't put the book down but in the same breath I also can't give it anymore which is such a shame. (ARC received for a honest review)

I will by Cyrus’ Birdie any day anywhere anytime!!!! I have a funny feeling I am going to be saying this a lot while reading this series but, here goes anyway; This is my favorite book and couple of the series!!!! I wish I could give this story 10 stars! Cyrus totally and completely owns my heart! His character did a complete and total transformation right before my eyes and it was amazing and I absolutely loved every freaking minute of it! Her strength spoke to me on so many levels. As naïve as she was she got how this crazy world works too which is a fantastic feat in upon itself. One minute she was ripping my heart out and the next she put it back together so beautifully. With all that happened to her, most would have given up long before she ever considered it. But not this little birdie, nope not her, she hung in there and in the end she got the prize! I just loved her to pieces. This was just such a great read. It brought out all my emotions from laughing one minute to wanting to cry the next to swooning and being so angry. I just couldn’t get enough of these two!

3.9 stars I read this story as part of the Men of Steel boxset. I struggled with the first book of the series but this one was much better. While there were some areas f the book that I struggled with it was a lot more cohesive than Jace's story. I really enjoyed Cyrus and the lengths he went to in taking care of Tara. I wanted more details on the why Tara counted as well as more of an explanation in regards to Tony. I thought there would be more of an explanation as to how things ended. especial 3.9 stars I read this story as part of the Men of Steel boxset. The writing style is getting better and doesn't seem so stilted and I really like the characters. I definitely will continue and see what is in store for Zandor.

I have to disclose from the outset that I didn't read the first book in the series. I needed a #2 book for a challenge so I started with this one. I'm not sure if reading the first book would have increased my enjoyment of this book but I am thinking that it would. I kept feeling like I came in in the middle of something. I wasn't a huge fan of Cyrus and Tara was too weak for me in the beginning. I think they grew on me but douchebag Cyrus was hard to take in light of the events going on right no I have to disclose from the outset that I didn't read the first book in the series. DNF.... what fresh hell did I waste my time on?! The writing was horrible, the grammatical errors were atrocious & the characters made me cringe. This was so bad that it left me confused as to who is reading this & giving it high reviews. Fuckitty fuck fuck! Tara is a pathetic, weak, spineless female who has the mental capacity of a 5 year old. And Cyrus is an emotionally stunted, douche canoe who thinks taking care of a person who suffered traumatic events means screw their brains out. DNF.... what fresh hell did I waste my time on?! Cyrus and Tara Cyrus is a SEAL, the oldest of the Steel brothers and just like the rest of the brothers is a player but he is very up front and has a no commitments and no more than 3 times with 1 woman. We met Tara in book 1, her parents died when she was very young and was forced into the foster care system where she meets a boy who promises to take care of her when she is aged out of the system. He actually uses her and sells pornos of them and is both physically and mentally abusive to Tara.
