Some authors make me forget I don't like to read continuing serial type novellas before all parts are out. Alisha Rai is one of them. When she sprung this surprise novella on us, I couldn't be happier and rushed through the book I was reading when it released so I could get my Alisha Rai fix. And what a fix it was! A delightfully dirty sexy novella that just would've checked all my boxes if it had been a fully wrapped up story. As it wasn't...it was not perfect but it came pretty darn close. I loved Elizabeth and Luca both separate and together and Alisha didn't pull any punches in the dirty sexy department. This novella was so hot and sexy I was blushing (and I don't blush easily!) and getting hot and bothered while reading it on the commute to and from work. And if you take in consideration the only kinky stuff happening was the sexual blackmail roleplay, that says a lot about how erotic and good the sexy was. Normally, when there are multiple books/novellas on one and the same couple I wait for all the books to be out and then read them back-to-back. Unfortunately I was so desperate for my Alisha Rai fix I couldn’t bring up the patience to wait for this and I read BE MY FANTASY almost right when it released. Some authors do this to me and Alisha is one of them. I now of course regret this because STAY WITH ME (the continuation novella) is not out until June. But this wonderfully filthy novella definitely makes it worth the torturous wait. Favorite Quotes: “Are you really sorry for disobeying me?” he asked. “Yes.” His legs spread wider. “Then get on your hands and knees, crawl over here, and show me how sorry you are with your mouth.” He pulsed his hips, rubbing the tip of his c*ck over that spot again and again, until she bit her hand. Instantly, he used his grip to haul her head up. “You don’t mark your own skin. That’s my job. You want something to bite, you bite me.” “Luca, please. I’m dying.” His chuckle was low and dirty.

I loved the main character, I loved the way the sex scenes were written and I loved the way the story discusses how every woman has the right to live their sex lifes as they want to and not be ashamed of it.

a short and steamy little story. I think I knew peripherally starting this story that it was to be continued in the next book, but somehow it registered so little that by the end of the book I was surprised (and not awfully pleased) to find out that Elizabeth and Luca's story was to be continued. As far as heroes and heroines go, these characters WERE rich and powerful, with security details and country club memberships and paparazzi and all, but it felt more realistic and organic than many mill a short and steamy little story. As far as heroes and heroines go, these characters WERE rich and powerful, with security details and country club memberships and paparazzi and all, but it felt more realistic and organic than many millionaire/ billionaire/ trillionaire heroes in romance novels. Elizabeth, with her high-profile political family and uptight upbringing (did anyone else keep having disturbing images of the Bush twins while reading this?), was nevertheless a deeply conflicted, sympathetic character. I appreciated that she had taken the reigns of her own life as much as possible, without completely alienating everyone in her life. Luca is also a strong, engaging hero, one who can admit to mistakes and poor judgement in his past, and who is not just willing, but DELIGHTED to accept Elizabeth for what she is (well, what he knows of her so far, anyway). Having read Akira Mori's story previously, it was also interesting seeing her interact with others and how she's affected their lives. This was a fast read for me, and despite their kink for role playing out imbalance/ abuse of power, which isn't my favorite, the story was hot and sweet. And yes, whenever Rai finally releases the follow up to this story, I'll buy and read it--grumbling the whole time about authors who can't just write a single full-length book instead of multiple installations.

Alisha Rai is a master of smut. Seriously. She writes the consistently best smut I have ever read. Interesting characters, interesting plots, liberally sprinkled with POC and mixed race relationships, no overused tropes to be found, and in fact, she has a knack for turning typical romance standards upside down. My one complaint about this book is that it's too short. It was just getting really good and now we have to wait at least a month to see what happens next. Alisha Rai is dependable, in a good way. Her stories involve (mostly) normal people trying to find happiness and sexual fulfillment in a crazy world. This short story is classic, where two strong-willed people are attracted to each other, but misunderstand each other, which prevents trust. Sometimes you just need a good spanking. Since this is a new series, I'll probably read them as they are published, but it would also be appropriate to wait for the boxed-set.

I love Alisha Rai and was ecstatic when she announced a surprise release. Of course I immediately one-click purchased it. I read it in a day. I loved the heroine, Elizabeth/Tess. I don't remember her from the other series with Akira and Jacob. I guess that gives me a great excuse for a re-read. :-) I was disappointed when I saw that the second book won't be out until June. But that's okay. It gives me something to look forward to.

Very much in the running for my favorite story by Rai. I didn't think anything would come close to A Gentleman in the Street, but this one does. I can't wait for the next episode and I need more stars to give this one.

A short but sexy novella from Alisha Rai. Be warned, this book does have a cliff hanger ending so be sure to have book two in The Fantasy Series close by because you'll want to pick it up immediately. I learned of Alisha Rai from an interview on the Smart Bitches, Trashy Books podcast. I wanted her books, all of them, desperately. Alisha Rai's just so smart and funny and clever and if I ever meet her, I fully expect to lose all my combined marbles. And let me tell you, she does not disappoint. This is seriously steamy writing and, with leading characters who are not merely unapologetic about their sexual preferences but also own and empower those preferences, it deserves all the praise. Rai weaves an interesting story about the difficulties of self-denial and the rewards in letting go. Protagonists Elizabeth and Luca display internal dialogues that ring true as each tries to navigate a social society that limits the both of them. Both have depth without a forced anxiety or helplessness. High praise for the sex scenes, where Rai shows off her mastery of language and pacing. A quick fun read.

Oh, my. Is it hot in here or IS IT THIS BOOK? *fans self* No lie, this book is smokin'. IT IS GLORIOUS. My only complaint is that now I have to wait for the next installment. That she would so matter-of-factly tell him what had happened without any expectation he'd accept her explanation made me sit up and do a fist pump. She saw something that needed to be done and did it. I admire that in a heroine. There was no artifice. No wheedling to try to get something out of him. Just "this is what happened. Deal with it or don't." Taking a cue from Elizabeth, I'm not going to pull my punches. I want book 2. This book only whetted my appetite for more of their story and I can't wait to see how their romance plays out. -Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

Yay!!! Another Alisha Rai book and I'm so in love with her writing, guys. Reading two Alisha Rai books in less than 24 hours is a pretty epic thing. i liked both of the main characters and thought that their conflicts were real and believable (a particular talent of rai's) and also liked that they were at least partially resolved by communication, but i felt that the novella ended in an awkward place. maybe i'm just not a fan of serial novellas, but it felt abrupt and unfinished to me.

Smoking hot beginning between Elizabeth and Luca, but not quite enough to convince me to pay for the final installment. I'm not a fan of serial romances, and wish authors would just charge one price for one book.

I wish this book and the sequel had just been turned into one book, breaking it up like that loses a lot of the fun momentum in their relationship. But other than that, this was pretty fun. Nothing unexpected but the sex scenes were good and the character development well telegraphed.
