Big promises do not match with this book. It's a general book about social media management. I think I had downloaded it during free promo. I won't say it bad but it could be better. I would suggest Ndeye Labadens to check hyperlinks and formatting.

This was a quick read and while informative there was much that I knew already. The author does focus a lot on paid ads in Twitter, FB, Instagram and others, and some very good ideas on how to get your audience to notice your posts.

In a way, it's a Social Media 101, but it expands beyond it and provides the reader with practical tips regarding the increase of visibility and sales. It touches upon various types of social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more, including some resources that I think are not that well-known, such as Social Quantum, for example. The book functions as good reference tool, particularly since it also speaks of social media etiquette, which may seem obvious but not always is. I found the section about hashtags particularly enlightening. I think more reading may be required if you really intend to explore all the possibilities of social media, but the simplicity of this book is great for a starting tool, and a great way to cover all the basics. For someone like me, who is a bit scared of the dynamics of social media, it has great pointers. Unfortunately, the book could do with a thorough editing, since confusing sentence structure sometimes makes a few points difficult to understand. Nothing that a good editor can't polish, since it's mostly a few typos and some weird phrasing.

I will be keeping this book close by as a reference tool for when I do get started with my own promotions. The etiquette tips were great, many seem like common sense but some tips the author mentioned can easily be overlooked. I never thought so much about hastags before but it all makes perfect sense- to really think about which ones to use and how many to use to best attract and keep followers. There were also some great additional resources that I had not heard of before and will be exploring further such as Shapr and Kred.

Wow. If I'd had this book five years ago, I think my own books would be much more well-known and popular. Labadens gives you step-by-step instructions on how to not only up your social media game but dominate. I thought that after years of experimentation myself, I pretty much knew all there was to know. Wrong! I was completely unaware of KRED, for example, which I immediately dove into upon finishing this book. What I'm saying is, even if you're an old hand at this business, this book can help Wow. I am a indie author who really has started publishing books, and I thought I had a good idea of what to do and handle social media. However, after reading How to Crush Social Media in Only 2 Minutes a Day, I realized that there was a lot more to do to get a handle on the situation and begin to gather an audience going forward. It was a very worthwhile use of my time.

Paperback, new $25.00 2.5 Bookmarkers While I normally do not review two books at the same time both are from the same author and presumably deal with the same subject so I have decided to make an exception and review both books in this column. The author, Ndeye Labens, is described on Amazon as being an award winning and best selling author. Besides writing several books, she works to help businesses, both large and small, improve their social media exposure and influence. Now, if you are like me, besides several dozen emails a day, Facebook notifications up the ya zoo, Twitter and Instagram accounts that I don’t have time to deal with, plus the other myriad of social media platforms that go unanswered, I was thrilled to see a book that claimed to show me how to crush social media. The fact that this was to be done in two minutes a day was, frankly, unbelievable. But, since the book was free (advanced copy and/or kindle unlimited), I thought, what the heck, I’ll try it. Well, I was right, can’t be done in two minutes a day. This brings me to one of the biggest problems I had with this book, the title. I thought it misleading. There is no way that one can crush, or even tackle social media in this period of time. In my opinion, a more suitable title for these books should have been “Understanding Social Media Platforms and How To Make Them Work For You” or “How to Make Money with Social Media” because this is what these books are ultimately about. Is the book worth the read? It depends on what you’re hoping to gain from the book. If you need to learn how to address social media in an insanely limited amount of time, no. But if you are trying to make sense of the different social media options, how they function, which might be a better fit for you, then, yes. The other issue I had with these books was the fact that it became apparent, almost immediately, that English was not the author’s native language. While I would have had problems writing in another language, and I applaud her for her attempt, I do think it would have helped immensely if she had a native English speaker (or two) read her manuscript prior to publication. Spelling, incomplete sentences, and difficulty with the past tenses of certain verbs made many parts of the book difficult to read. An example of an awkward sentence in the YouTube section of Book 2 is: “People goes watch videos … Once people is there on a given there you have …” Unfortunately, these types of errors were scattered throughout both books. What I did like about the books was that they dealt with different social media platforms. Her information was well organized while being easy to understand and follow. It was obvious that Ndeye spent a lot of time researching the various platforms and how they could benefit the business person. Her explanation of various social media ads and affiliates was particularly informative and well worth reading the book for. So, would I recommend this book? Again, it depends. If you are someone trying to grow your brand, I would say yes. If you are someone who thinks that after reading this book you will be able to handle all your social media options in two minutes a day, then I would have to say, no. I recommend in a limited instance. Susan Piazza is an author, columnist, and blogger. The skill sets needed to crush social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Goodreads, LinkedIn, etc.) are well presented in this useful and informative book, but I purchased the e-book and now that I have read it, must buy the print version in order to speed up the implementation of the strategies suggested. The book is chock full of useful information to which I must return again and again to learn how to use the valuable step-by-step tools, and I’m used to flipping back and forth between pages and sections when reading a text book, which is the category to which this book belongs. It is a simple task to move around within a print copy but doesn’t work as well with an e-book where you risk losing your place, can’t scribble notes in the margins, and the text sometimes changes location depending on the device you are using. I will need to slowly and patiently learn how to implement the key ideas, and I really want to learn how. So, I strongly recommend the book, but unless you have been raised reading e-books only, take my advice and buy a print copy. It’s worth the extra expense.
