I never thought I would be reading Don Quixote to my son at age 6 (or ever for that matter), but this book makes it very easy and enjoyable to read. Yes, it's not the original text and it has Wishbone's commentary throughout, but for a 6 year old, that's fun. I've been enjoying it too, because it's a book that was never on my wishlist to read, but it's been a great story so far. In two words: fun & accessible.

This book is great if you have kids that want to start reading classic books, but you don't feel that they are going to either enjoy or understand it. I feel, however, that this is too much of a dumbed down version of the tale.

There are two abridged editions in print Madrid with an introductory essay and now Reclams red classics.

VERY abridged, but my 7-year-old daughter loved the book and the interjections by Wishbone that helped with understanding and context of the book.
