4🌟 2.5🌶 Gabriel & Cecilia… just wow. I read the start of their story in an anthology last year & immediately knew I wanted more from them! This book hit me in the heart so hard & I just admired the heck out of Cecilia. She went through a lot & it was heartbreaking to see just how invisible she wanted to be. Gabriel… ugh he won my heart. The way he was with her & never gave up on her just made me smile so freaking hard. I enjoyed getting to see these two fall in love & overcome their obstacles. The tension was super hot & I may have melted for Gabriel a little bit…🥵 I really love Daniela’s writing & I’m super excited to read even more books by her!

This book first off was amazing as for me lately, I have struggled to get into romances as every romance I have tried has felt blah and just not grabbing me at all. I was a little nervous going into this book as I had previously loved Daniela's Sun Valley Devils series and was anxious that this wouldn't grab me but it surprised me as I loved this book. I was a little nervous going into this book as I had previously loved Daniela's Sun Valley Devils series and was anxious that this wouldn't grab me but it surprised me as I loved this book. In parts, yes I was angry as the guys who deserved punishment got away with it but all I could think was - one day that they will get their karma for being jerks, etc. The other thing I think why I loved this book was as the main female character Cecelia suffered the same fate we saw Allie in the Sun Valley series and I quickly connected with Cecelia the character as well as Gabriel who we had seen bits of in Sun Valley along with Felix, Julio and even Allie guest-starred in this book and it mentioned where Roman was now too which made me smile. The Savage had all the feelings as Gabe's twin brother have sadly killed himself and then the way he meets Cecelia is that he finds her just as she tried to kill herself and he saves her. When he sees her that first day at University, he knows it's a sign to try and save her - a second chance for himself as he couldn't save his brother but he could save her, it's a bonus as he likes her romantically as well. Due to Cecelia's hurt, her bullies happen to be popular guys at the university and she sees no way out but to try again, however with Gabe on her tail - she can't seem to get any time alone. I have to admit, I loved this book so much that when it came to the end I was like NOOOOOO !!! as it ended of course with a cliffhanger and now I have to sit patiently and wait for Book #2 - the downside of enjoying a book and being a fast reader - the wait can seem like forever. Anyway, overall if you love New Adult Romances with a bit of grit, then check out The Savage by Daniela Romero as you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Wow! Daniela threw a tsunami of emotions to my face with this one. I couldn't stop reading. From the first line the book traps your attention and never lets you go. The story had my heart racing and that prevented me from stopping to read. Amazing story, the characters were impeccably written. The Savage exceeded all my expectations. I can not wait get my hands The Striker to see how the story unfolds.

Cecilia and Gabriel's story is a spin-off series from Devils of Sun Valley, these two broken souls have gone through a lot, it's an emotional rollercoaster you can't stop reading. This story has some trigger warnings for some readers. The story will captivate you, and make your heartache and your mind wander into their world. Their past is not easy. Gabriel's protectiveness will have you falling for him, they have great chemistry and I can't wait to find out how their story continues. But she’s found and saved by Gabriel. She doesn’t know him at the time and he doesn’t know her. But he sees her trauma and wants to save her. He inserts himself into her life in some stalkerish ways but only to try and help. Cecilia refuses to open up but it isn’t hard to put 2 and 2 together to figure out something bad has happened. Gabe, along with his friends Julio and Felix take her under their wing and offer her friendship. The lines begging to blur for Gabe and Cecilia but she isn’t quite ready for a relationship yet. Her rapist is still on campus, threatening her and making her life hell at every opportunity. Gabe works out it’s someone on the soccer team and starts working with his friends to figure it out. When they do figure out, chaos ensues. Cecilia never wanted him to find out, let alone to figure out who it was. Just as they start to make a breakthrough with each other, Cecilia tells him they have to end things. She doesn’t want Gabe to be a crutch for her. She wants to learn to stand on her own 2 feet and not rely on someone else to make her happy. She knows that Gabe can give her that, but she doesn’t want it. Gabe knows she is lying to him and doesn’t want to end things. He calls bullshit on everything she is saying but she isn’t backing down. I can’t wait to see how their story plays out. Gabe is very broken too. His twin brother committed suicide in the same way that Cecilia tried to. She calls him her guardian angel and he wants that for them but she doesn’t. Cecilia’s parents piss me off. They should have figured out what happened and why she tried to kill herself. She went from a popular cheerleader to withdrawn and distant and depressed. This book is definitely a rollercoaster of emotion. Can 2 broken people heal each other?

Once the popular and outgoing type, Cecilia soon finds herself the prisoner of her trauma after one summer night; lost and alone. When PacNorth’s Soccer star, Gabriel Herrera becomes the archangel of sorts for the social pariah, Cecilia Rousso, there is no stopping Gabe, who is determined to save Cecilia from those who taunt her. But with Gabriel having to battle his own demons, the two are brought together through a traumatic incident, and being broken together seems to be what they need to move on. “I see the hurt inside of you and it reminds me of my own.” Overall, this rating is for the continued cross-over world building, character development, and relatable themed aspects of Ms. Romero’s storytelling. And after that cliffy, I can’t wait to read what happens next in book 2, The Striker. “I’m in love with Gabriel Herrera. And giving him up is one of the hardest things I will do, but I have to.” **TW: sensitive and triggering subjects include sexual assault, abuse, and suicide in this novel.

I am pleased to be a part of Grey's Promotions' Release Blitz for Daniela Romero's The Savage. It's my first novel from Ms. Romero and it is filled with anguish and hope. Cecilia Russo isn't supposed to be here. A stranger saved her from her suicide attempt and now she has to face the music. It's not that she isn't used to the looks and whispers. After all, the trauma she went through before her failed attempt made her realize that no one was on her side and that she was on her own. After all, the trauma she went through before her failed attempt made her realize that no one was on her side and that she was on her own. No one knows the real story of what happened to her that night in that room. Not her parents and not her therapist. Money talks and the whole incident was dismissed and here she is; back to school after months of therapy. The same looks. The same whispers. The same prick who is threatening her to keep quiet or else. Until the boy that messed with her plans to end it all decides to be her savior. She didn't ask for any of this. She needs to find a way to cope. What she doesn't need is a relationship. Gabriel "Gabe" Herrera is going to solve the mystery of Cecilia Russo if it's the last thing he does. He has faced trauma in his life as well. He couldn't save his twin brother so he's going to save the beautiful broken girl who has invaded his thoughts. He normally doesn't get close with outsiders. Only his team and his familia have his loyalty, but she brings out the protector in him. He's convinced it's just platonic, but the longer he spends with her, the more his heart contradicts that notion. Gabriel and Cecilia are hurting and broken. They need to face their pain before moving on, but they find solace in each other. With Gabe at her side, Cecilia is no longer facing a future of emptiness. He gives her hope and the strength to face her fears. The loss of Gabe's brother has devastated his family and he's not sure they can come back from it.  Cecilia has changed Gabe's world by giving him the love and attention he is missing from his grieving parents. Gabe is so loving and patient with Cecilia and I respect him and his best friends Julio and Felix who are thoroughly committed to finding out and punishing the culprits who attacked Cecilia. Though Cecilia might be mad about Gabe intruding in her life, he is doing it to save her from being hurt again. Her decision, in the end, makes sense but it doesn't make it any better to hear. Right now, she is his absolution and he is her crutch. They both love each other, but they need to work on themselves before they can be better together. The ending is unexpected and unfortunately, a cliffhanger, but I am determined to find out what happens to these two lovely people who deserve a happily ever after.  Felix and Julio are important for Gabe's sanity. They were the only ones there for Gabe when his brother died and they accept Cecilia into their fold with no hesitation. Gabe's parents are unbelievable. They have chosen pills and booze to deal with Gabe's brother's loss which means they are not emotionally present for Gabe himself. Cecilia's parents don't know what happened to their daughter because she won't tell them so they hover and push. As for the nasty asshole who instigated Cecilia's attack and who continues to bully her, I can't wait until he gets what he deserves. I always enjoy love stories between two strong, yet broken people who find their way back from traumatic events in their lives, and Book 1 is a great beginning to a wonderful series. Please note that this story covers some very serious subject matter such as rape, suicide, grief, and bullying.  Thank you to Ms. Romero for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I didn’t feel the whole bad boy thing going on. I mean there was a bully...a complete asshole POS bully. But it wasn’t who I thought it would be. This book definitely touches on some hard topics and could be a big trigger for some people. The author didn’t shy away from anything where that is concerned but handled the story around the subjects very well. If there aren't trigger warnings for this book, there probably should be. With that being said, this was a very good read with some strong characters development. “I need…it hits me and my chest heaves, breath seesawing in and out. This isn’t real. It’s a dream. A bad, bad dream.” Cecilia was just your ordinary college coed enjoying school, classes and some partying. She had good grades, a few besties and things were going really good. In the span of one night, everything spiraled out of control. As the memories of what happened come crashing back one after the other, she becomes a shell of who she was before. She loses so much due to no fault of her own but rather the evilness of someone else. She carries her pain until it weighs her down so much she can’t take it anymore. But she didn’t expect Gabriel Herrera. “A devil in disguise. I don’t know why I assumed otherwise. It’s the beautiful ones who hide their rotting centers best.” Gabriel may be a soccer star but besides his two close friends he mostly keeps to himself on campus. Having suffered a horrible tragedy his pain is still fresh. As far as he is concerned, it’s better not to get involved with all the extra shit that goes on around campus. School, soccer and his brothers...nothing else mattered...until Cecilia. “Maybe we can be broken together? It might make the pain hurt a little less.” These two characters are so complex and broken. I loved them both. Gabriel was so much more than he seemed. He may have saved Cecilia but she saved him right back when he didn’t think it would ever be possible. Both of them have been through so much. The trauma that each carried was drowning them until they found peace with each other. Their jaded, broken pieces somehow fit together. I did have a little trouble with a few of the developments in the second half. If not for that, this would have been a five star read for me. But I feel like I can’t really say much more because I don’t want to give anything away. Please keep in mind the blurb doesn’t at all prepare you for what happens inside the pages of this book. I really can’t wait to see where the author takes Cecilia and Gabriel’s story next but I’m really pulling for a HEA.

Please read the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. I absolutely love Daniela's work. She often takes really difficult subject matter and creates a beautiful story about strength and perseverance. The Savage begins with Cecilia waking up in a strange room and finding out that she is a victim of SA. When she tries to get help, no one believes her. Fast forward a few months later. Gabriel is a senior in college who's dealing with his own traumatic past. One night, Gabriel stumbled upon Cecilia trying to end her life. After saving her, he makes it his mission to help her recover. He has no idea about her past. All he sees is a broken woman and will do everything in his power to help her. Along the way, the two form a romantic relationship. This book does end on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to be an emotional wreck while you wait for book two. I thought the story was heartbreakingly beautiful. I love how the author brought the two characters together. The way that Gabriel sees something in Cecilia that he can't give up on. No matter how much she tries to push him away. This story deals with some heavy topics. SA and suicide are some of the main focal points in the story. As hard as some parts were to read, I think it was written very tastefully with respect to the characters. I can't wait to read book two.

All reviews posted at Tales of Love, Life, and Murder This book started out great. It’s an emotional story because of the awful ordeal Cecilia’s been through and the aftermath she lives with. Gabriel is exactly what she needs; sweet, kind, patient and he cares. The pace moved a little slow for me, but I was still enjoying it up until chapter twenty-six, about 92% on the kindle. Then it all fell apart. I don’t see anywhere in the blurbs that this was part one and ends with a cliffhanger but it does. In hindsight, I feel like the author dragged it out needlessly to stretch one book into two. Even then, I could still accept it if the characters or the plot took a compelling turn, but they don’t. Just the opposite in fact. Cecilia inexplicably does something foolish that drags out the story, but her action/reaction doesn’t fit. It’s not so much a twist I didn’t see coming but more of a random, inexplicable turn that ruined the story for me. If the book had continued beyond this point to a complete ending, the story probably would have ended up being great but to drag it out, have the h act out of character and make it a cliffhanger is just too much to ask of a reader. I still gave it two and a half stars because I liked most of it so much, but the ending annoyed me enough to cut the rating in half because I won’t bother with the conclusion. I can’t invest more time in these characters only to be disappointed again so I’m not willing to take a chance.

DAMN! This story had my emotions all over the place. It ripped my heart out, smashed it on the floor and it hasn’t quite been healed yet! I don’t know how many times I ended up sobbing into my pillow while digesting Cecilia and Gabriel’s story. They both just broke me and then when it ended the way it did – ugh the tears wouldn’t stop! The pain was gut-wrenching to read, and all of the emotional turmoil just oozed off the pages. It was an intense rollercoaster ride. Cecilia and Gabriel’s story wa DAMN! The pain was gut-wrenching to read, and all of the emotional turmoil just oozed off the pages. It was an intense rollercoaster ride. Cecilia and Gabriel’s story was also a very beautiful story. These two see something in each other that just feels like home, which continually pulls them together helping them both to finally heal. Gabriel won my heart over. He’s so strong and protective, which is what Cecilia needs. He never once gives up on her, and fights to his last breath to be what Cecilia needs. Their interactions were laced with sweetness and an undeniable chemistry that was explosive. These two are soulmates but life sometimes can take an ugly twisted turn and change the course of what should be a happy ever after. Truly a beautiful story, but not for the faint of heart as it delves deep into very heavy topics and situations that some readers will not be able to get through. The writing was exceptional keeping me completely captivated and unwilling to put the book down. This amazing (new to me) author weaves a story that is painful, emotionally heavy, and at times gut-wrenching but with bursts of beauty and light interwoven in the darkness. I absolutely loved it and after that cliffhanger of an ending I need to know what happens next.

Gabriel sets out to help save Cecelia from wanting to try to take her life again and things get more complicated as time goes on. I have mixed feelings about this. I have a strong feeling that this is one of those books where you want more from the first book but then the second book really wows you. I was left wanting more character development and plot development as the story went on. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I am just so invested in what’s going to happen and I’m drawn in so much by these characters and events that I’m dying for more. I found Gabriel extremely relatable. I love his stubborn, passionate, flirty personality. Cecelia, on the other hand, I found less relatable. I think I’m just so mad at her with that ending that I can’t see past that right now. And Austin can rot in hell (which is something I think we can all agree on - especially with those damn puka shells). I definitely am excited for the next book to come out in Fall 2022 and I have a feeling that it’s going to get a higher rating from me. The story is there and I’m excited to see where it goes. We have a lot to look forward to. It’s a recommend from me!

This is a gripping story that I found difficult to put down. "Nothing about living life is easy. It's hard and messy..." But when Gabriel Herrera begins paying her attention, her world suddenly wakes up. But is it a good or bad thing? This book, as warned by the author, has a few triggers. Both Cecelia & Gabriel have their demons - Cecelia's are just more apparent to the reader. Their struggle against them is uphill most days. I wanted to reach into the book so many times just to offer Cecelia & Gabriel hugs. The book ends on a cliffhanger - which I didn't know until I started the book itself - so we are left waiting on the further development of Cecelia & Gabriel's journey. I will say this, though: I recommend the read. Interspersed throughout all the pain and heartache is a story on how friendship and unconditional love can be the light needed in someone's dark world. I am looking forward to the sequel, while hoping everyone gets what they truly deserve. I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Gabriel, Felix, and Julio are as close as brothers and I love books that the characters have a bond like that. It’s the biggest reason I love sports, MC, Military romances, and RH romances. Daniela did an amazing job with The Savage and I highly recommend The Savage and Daniela as an author. I plan on checking out more books written by Daniela as she is a favorite author of mine. I have read almost all of her books and I have never regretted reading any of them. Just a small warning there are subjects that can be a trigger so pay heed to all warnings. Happy Reading!!

I loved the Devils of Sun Valley High series and I was quite excited to read this spinoff… I was not disappointed! This book is raw and full of emotions and realistic. It’s a truly captivating story of trauma, anguish, fury, and love. It will hold your attention from the prologue all the way to the end! Gabriel was so sweet and caring towards Cecilia and I loved how he was so careful about his actions and temperament and what he said so as not to trigger her. It was also great to see Julio and Felix as well and see why Allie was such good friends with them. That ending crushed me but I totally understand the reasonings and agreed with Cecilia on all of it. I can’t wait for the next book to see how their epic love story ends! If you love college romances with all the emotions in it then this perfect for you!

This was an intense story! I immediately fell in love with Cecelia. She has grit and I really felt she was portrayed perfectly. The lingering aftereffects she had to deal with and how she tried to overcome everything showed her true charm. What she went through was unimaginable and to then have to endure all the harassment. I was so mad on her behalf! No surprise she was at her breaking point when she met Gabriel. He is a shining star in this story! He is so amazing with Cecelia. Gabe!! My goodness his heart and love is absolutely my undoing. I love that he doesn't hold back his emotions and he is his true self through and through. His life hasn't been the easiest by any means but he puts all his hurt aside to help Cecelia. Cecelia has been through a lot. I hate what happened to her, but I love that it brought her and Gabriel together. I love these two with my whole heart and need to know what happens in The Striker! I couldn't get enough of them. Their protective, loving, caring nature is so real and everything Cecelia needs and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. This book hurt so much, the pain was raw and real and this was definitely not for the faint of heart but the pain was necessary and the results of that were spectacular. It made the book that much more for me and I loved it.

This is Gabriel and Cecilia’s journey. Cecilia has endured a horrific event which has left her broken and alone, as nobody knows what she went through, and after months of therapy she is back on school nothing like the girl she used to be. Gabe has endured his own trauma, which he has a couple of best friends who stand by him unlike his parents who resort to drastic measures to cope. Cecilia is still being bullied and threated, and Gabe is determined to reveal the culprits who have hurt her. Thi This is Gabriel and Cecilia’s journey. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend. Be aware there are triggers in this story due to the sensitive content!

This author makes me FEEL. It's utterly heartbreaking, painful as all hell, yet healing in the most deep and personal way. I love how she connects not just reader to character but also to the author herself. Only one downer, the last few chapters just felt... messy. I also want to mention that although it's not necessary to read Wicked Devil before The Savage, I would recommend doing so as it contains big spoilers of the Wicked Devil FMC, Allie.

The Savage is the first book in these characters' stories. This book is told from dual points of view by Gabriel and Cecelia. Gabriel and Cecelia meet when he finds her on the brink of death. I fell in love with both of these characters, and to say I was mad at the ending is an understatement. I'm still in shock, and can't wait to see what happens next with these characters. I felt the pain of both characters as they were going through their different battles.
