I’m not a YA fan, but this was wonderful! So glad I read it!!! Darya was pretty much a normal teenage student. If normal means drinking blood from her donor and struggling to pass her magic classes at school. There’s also a demon that she’s determined to find due to the murder of one of her teachers. Despite all the paranormal extra curricular activities she’s involved in, she’s also affected by the average mean girl bullies as well as a crush on a boy. I loved the way she handled the mean girls even as her reactions to her crush rang true to what a “normal” teenage girl would do. While we never get Peter’s point of view, there were several moments where I was able to pretty much read what he might be experiencing. For a teenage boy, he was protective of Darya and had a great alpha hero thread running through him. He was a great help to Darya despite the fact that his father was so strongly set against her and her family. There is a good bit of action and drama throughout the book, much of it laced with the typical young adult antics. However, Peter and Darya are over 18 and things get pretty heated up between them and they end up making their own special magic together. I really enjoyed watching things play out with the many secondary characters while they didn’t take over the storyline. I loved the way this all unfolded. It has a happy for now ending but also leaves it open for more to come. Overall, a great series started. I loved these two, strong willed, strong magicked, and loyal characters. I loved it when a spell went wonky, the side effect was awesome and I wanted more of it. There was a mystery to be solved that played into the story. It was very shocking when the truth was revealed I can not wait for the next book.

I hadn't had any big book crush for several weeks and I was beginning to despair, but all it takes is for LH Cosway to take us back to Tribane and my wishes are granted. I immersed myself again in this world of vampires, wizards, elves and dhampirs and I didn't want to come out of it anymore. The writing of the author makes us vibrate with each chapter and makes us forget our sad world of humans. This spin-off of The blood Magic series keeps its promises and offers us the same quality. Here we follow Ethan and Tegan's daughter, Darya, a student at St Bastian's institute for Magic and the Supernatural, as well as her friends and enemies. LH Cosway builds a superb paranormal story with suspense, murders, revenge, deceptions, mysteries... But also a very beautiful love story between a young man and a young woman who should not love each other. Their families have been enemies for about 20 years, Peter's father is particularly stubborn about it (and I hate him), everyone knows their past. Tegan and Ethan are much more intelligent and tolerant. I was crazy in love with Ethan in the original series and here he does not disappoint me, he is still so protective and loving. I loved seeing Darya and Peter getting close with the hesitation typical of their age and background. I loved the result of a certain accident that allows them to get to know each other better. Even though they shouldn't be spending time together, they don't fight their feelings (as soon as a murder brings them closer). Their feelings are intense but there is a lot of sweetness between them, complicity, respect. The secondary characters are important but do not steal the show from our young couple. The mysteries are solved intelligently and with beautiful surprises. There is action, twists, magic, mutual aid, love... In short, I really loved it and I hope to return to Tribane soon!!! Thank you so much LH Cosway for the ARC !!!

L.H. Cosway launches her St. Bastien Institute series, a spin-off of her Blood Magic series, with this young adult, star-crossed lovers story about Dayra Cristescu and warlock Peter Girard. Even though it’s in the same world, it’s quite different, it gave me a Vampire Academy kind of vibe which I also enjoyed. I really liked Dayra. She’s a self-assured, loyal and strong teenager who suffers from pretty much the same kind ailments as any other teen does: having to deal with mean girls, boy crushes and passing classes, plus the smidgeon paranormal dealings with demons who are after you and a murder mystery thrown in. Through it all though, she’s never rash, but rather analytical, thinking things through. I absolutely loved her. While the story is told from Dayra’s point of view, L.H. expertly entwines Peter’s thoughts with a magical telepathy twist that allowed the reader to experience his protectiveness and feelings towards Dayra. Their romance is a magical slow burn. The world building was fabulous and having the characters from the Blood Magic series plus the new additions to the story provided a fantastic layer to the action that unfolded. I can’t wait to see what L.H. comes up with next! Foretold is book #1 of the St. Bastien Institute series (a spin-off of The Blood Magic Series) by L.H. Cosway. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I dove into this novel. I somewhat liked the series this one stems from, but I wasn’t as in love with it as I usually am with Cosway novels. I will tell you this: I did not want to put this novel down once I started. I found myself loving every word. From the characters to the plot and everything in between, I was completely consumed. If you are looking for a book bathed in mystery, romance, forbidden love, and magic, here it is. Darya is half witch, half vampire I wasn’t sure what to expect when I dove into this novel. I found myself loving every word. From the characters to the plot and everything in between, I was completely consumed. If you are looking for a book bathed in mystery, romance, forbidden love, and magic, here it is. Darya is half witch, half vampire studying at St. Bastians. She has two friends (Nic and Grace) that she leans on but she can’t hide her attraction for Peter—whose father despises her father. While Darya and Peter do not share in their parents’ hatred, things become complicated when a spell-gone-wrong makes it so they can read each other’s thought. With a blood-draining murderer on the loose and targeting people close to Darya, how can things get more complicated? PROS: 1. Darya was such a likable character. She didn’t ask to be pitied because she is not the best at magic. She stands up for herself and others. I liked that the novel was from her POV. I wondered what Teagan and Ethan’s daughter would be like and I was not disappointed. 2. Could Peter be anymore perfect? I think every girl deserves their own blushing and protective Peter. He is very dimensional and has a lot of personality. I will say that I would have like to have some chapters from his POV or just a sneak peak into his home life. Maybe book 2 will reveal more?? This would be a great time for “show don’t tell”. I wanted to know more about his father and brothers. 3. The plot has you wanting to know more. There is a demon on the loose and trying to guess who it is was the fun part. I had my suspicions and went back and forth between characters, and the twist was totally brilliant. 4. This novel was like none I had read before, so the newness factor deserves it’s own pro. 5. All the sub-plots felt right. I was not overwhelmed by the Belinda drama or Angela being attacked and her relationship with Darya. CONS: 1. Like I said before I wanted a bit more background on Peter. I wanted to see more interactions with his father and maybe a conversation or two with his brothers. He has such a soft heart but was raised by people so hateful I wonder what his childhood was like and how he survived not becoming a mini version of his father. 2. I wanted more of the demon. I felt he was captured too easily and was infatuated with Darya too quickly. Maybe we will see more of this in the next one. **An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.**

This is my first YA Paranormal - I think-at least by this author. I love this author's rugby series with Penny Reid. I grabbed this without knowing that this is YA/PNR/Fantasy. It's a page turning but I never wanted it to end. These two have a lot to go through....Darya's parents are against Peter being friends with their daughter, but of course, they can change their minds. Darya's parents are great. I also like her older sister Rebecca. I want to read more about her in the next book. (yes, this series continues!) There's a mysterious bad guy(s) - the identity was a surprise to me. Great imagination and as I mentioned, the building of this world. I didn't read the series before this, but I think that I'll have to now. !

***5 Stars*** Having read and enjoyed the Blood Magic series, I was all in to dive into this spin off, and I wasn’t disappointed. This was a fun, quick read filled with great characters, both new and old, and a new threat to Tribane. As far as Darya and Peter go, I pretty much adored them. Watching as they go from just classmates to friends to more was a lot of fun, and quite unique with the whole telepathy thing coming into play. But outside of that, they had a great flow, even when things got awkward and balanced each other out in ways I don’t think they even realized. This book does take place quite a few years after the end of the Blood Magic series and I liked seeing the changes Tribane and its citizens have gone through. Do you NEED to read the Blood Magic series to enjoy this book? No, not really. I think you’ll be just fine, but if you want all the details on the various relationships and what went down in the war, then do it and you won’t be sorry. Now, you all know I LOVE well written secondary characters and this baby is chock full of them. From the crew from the Blood Magic series to Darya and Peter’s friends, I was in hog heaven. I loved seeing Ethan and Teagan as parents and getting to see who Rebecca has become. But of the newbies, Ren may just be my fav but I loved Grace and am looking forward to seeing what Grace, Sophie, Belinda and Nic bring to the table in the next book! ~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~

Well first of all that is a beautiful cover. Very eye catching in black and gold, the colours let you know that it's related to the Blood Magic series but the styling is different enough to say Right we've moved on and and these are new characters. His daughter Darya is having problems at school and in a very Romeo and Juliet kind of way she secretly fancies a boy from the Girard family, who gave her parents so much trouble before she was born. Then a teacher is murdered and all hell breaks loose. This follows Blood Magic nicely but if you haven't read those books you can still pick this one up and enjoy it as a standalone, although it is clear at the end that there will be more to follow.

She attends St. Bastion’s Institute for Magic and the Supernatural where, despite her illustrious pedigree, she is struggles with all things magical. Her favourite class is Weapons and Self Defense, where she takes after her vampire father in speed, strength and martial instincts. Darya is hiding a secret crush on classmate Peter Girard, the extremely gifted warlock whose grandfather, Marcel, and ancestor, Theodore, engaged in full-fledged and ultimately failed warfare against the elder Cristescus. Then, a murder at their school leads to a chance spell casting that goes awry. Darya and Peter end up telepathically linked. Can Darya handle all the odd goings on in Tribane with Peter hanging around inside her head? This book had everything that I enjoy in romantic escapism! It has the magical world building held over from the Blood Magic. It has a fanciful school offering classes in Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Herbology and so much more. It has a forbidden romance as fated and secret as anything Shakespeare could imagine. Most of all it has a fearless heroine in Darya, who is my ideal blend of headstrong and savvy. She’s determined to participate in finding the solutions to all the latest mysteries surrounding her, despite her parents’ efforts to protect her, but she never fails to lean on their considerable knowledge and experience. This is so incredibly satisfying! Foretold can definitely be read as a standalone. It introduces a new generation of witches, warlocks and vampires in Tribane. There is no need to read the preceding four books of the Blood Magic series because Ethan and Tegan Cristescu and their comrades are now “The Parents” and “The Teachers” at St. Bastian. However, I can’t deny that knowing their history truly added to my enjoyment of Darya and Peter’s story. I hope there will be many more books in the St. Bastian series because there are a host of fascinating classmates and a devilishly intriguing new bad guy to fantasize about!

4.5 stars! Foretold is the first book in the new St. Bastians Institute series, a spin-off of the Blood Magic series, and it did not disappoint. It’s a star-crossed lovers story between Dayra, the daughter of Tegan and Ethan Cristescu from Blood Magic , and warlock Peter Girard, great-nephew of Marcel Girard who was the enemy of Tegan and Ethan. To say there is bad blood between the Cristescu and Girard family is an understatement but when Darya needs Peter’s help with a spell, they find a connection neither was expecting.   It is so good to be back in Cosway’s paranormal world filled with vampires, witches, warlocks, demons, spells, magic, and more. Darya and Peter attend St. Bastian’s Institute for Magic and the Supernatural. Darya is a dhampir, half human/half vampire and isn’t great at magic. Peter, however, is very gifted and when a teacher is murdered at the school, Darya needs Peter’s help to try to figure out the killer. The spell doesn’t go as planned and Darya and Peter are linked. Not only that but Darya it seems has been marked by a demon. Can Darya and Peter find the killer and the demon while navigating high school with all the drama that comes with being a teen? Darya and Peter have a lot on their plates but this story is just the beginning. There’s magic, mayhem, and murder, and I was sucked in immediately. I loved the way they are tested and the connection they have that keeps them together. Peter is so protective of Darya and it just made me giddy when he’s around her. I love the friendship they form and the developing feelings that take root as they spend time together. Even though the story is told from Darya’s POV, we get to see someof the things Peter is thinking through their connection. I really liked the telepathy they share and thought it was an interesting twist. I also liked the mystery and magic as well as the action that Darya and Peter face. And I can’t forget the secondary characters, nor Tegan and Ethan. I loved getting more of them and enjoyed seeing the fierce love they have for Darya as well as the openness they have for Peter. I really enjoyed the way the story unfolds but the ending definitely leaves things open for so much more. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Darya and Peter, and I won’t lie, I’m a little nervous about the demon that marked Darya and his part in the coming books. I will note that though it is not necessary to read the Blood Magic series first in order to enjoy this book, I do recommend reading it before because it gave me more background to this new series.

I Received an unreleased copy of this book

When Darya was accused of killing Mr Williams, a teacher, she asked Peter for help in casting a clairvoyance spell to see if it shows who did the murder. But something went wrong. What you say? I’m not saying because you need to read the book! You don’t have to have read The Blood Magic series to enjoy this book, but I highly recommend it just because I really loved this series. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

It’s a great story and we get to meet all the familiar characters from this world together with a great new cast of young people. I can’t wait to get my fangs into the next one.

I couldn’t stop reading Foretold until I reached the end. It had an energy surrounding it, its story and characters. I fell in love with Darya and Peter right away. (view spoiler)[Even Nic, damn it. I knew he was too good to be true. (hide spoiler)] And let’s not forget about Ren. As always, L.H. Cosway did an amazing job creating these characters. All of them are flawed and all of them are in their own way perfect because of it. Easy to relate—even though they were more than just humans. *smirk* I couldn’t stop reading Foretold until I reached the end. It had an energy surrounding it, its story and characters. Supernatural books are my cup of tea and this one was not an exception. This book will most likely move into my re-read folder soon. Now, I can’t wait to see what happens next. Even though this wasn’t my favourite of L.H. Cosway’s books, I enjoyed Foretold. There was a bit of info-dumping at first, but it got better after a while. There was a lot of focus on the family relations, which I didn’t particularly care about, but that’s totally on me. Darya and Peter were cute together, their relationship was almost too cheesy though. In the end I didn’t love this as much as I’d hoped I would, but I’ll still read the sequels to see where the story goes. [I received a free copy fro Even though this wasn’t my favourite of L.H. While Darya is busy attending classes and harboring a secret crush on a warlock who might possibly despise her entire family, little does she know, that her life is about to be turned completely upside down in a matter of days... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Foretold was the intriguing introduction to a new generation of supernatural young adults who are attending the St. Bastian Institute. Darya Cristescu and Peter Girard have known each other for many years as classmates, and familial enemies, but when things start to go wrong at St. Bastian, these two will become closer than they ever bargained for... This book was a great beginning to the new second generation, St. Bastian Institute series. We first met the parents of Darya in the fantastic Blood Magic series, and while she is still young and learning about her powers, Darya's continuing story promises to be a fascinating one. The characters in this book were all interesting and extremely likable (well, most of them!) Darya was strong, brilliant, and a great friend, and I truly appreciated her ability to make smart decisions, time and time again. I loved the connection that she shared with Peter, and the potential that their relationship has is endless... hopefully!! I am excited to see what comes next for Darya and friends. This book had its moments of excitement, but I think that its biggest accomplishment was to get us invested in the characters and to look to what the future may hold for Darya and her sure-to-be-complicated journey... I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review. Check out the Blog! http://nightbirdnovels.com/2022/04/01... Paranormal romance is always a great escape for me. LH Cosway’s Foretold is a fun read, with some mystery, some drama and some romance combined with vampires, witches and demons galore. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Darya is a student at St. Bastian’s Institute for Magic and the Supernatural. She and Peter attempt a spell to try to figure out what happened, but that inadvertently leads to their ability to communicate telepathically with each other. The exciting and entertaining plot takes off from there. I’m a longtime Cosway fan, and I adore her characters. They are charming and fun, and tend to manifest the perfect amount of pining and angst. Foretold falls into the new adult category; while the main characters are still in high school, they are all over 18. Overall, I liked this paranormal a lot. This book is a spin off of Cosway’s Blood Magic series, but you don’t have to have read those books to enjoy this one. But, I didn’t realize that Foretold is actually the first in a strongly connected, continuing series. It’s a great point to meet these characters, and yes, I’m completely sucked in to the ongoing stories. But, I might have waited to read it until closer to the next book’s release date later this year. Foretold is a great escape from the mundane, and puts life in perspective. I mean, if you aren’t worried about being hunted down by a demon, do you really have anything to panic about? If you are a fan of paranormal and new adult romance, this book is the perfect mashup. I was gifted an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 stars! Foretold is such a fun paranormal read! The St. Bastian Institute series is a spin-off of the wonderful Blood Magic series, and it promises to be just as good. We are back in the world LH Cosway created, filled with vampires, sorcerers, dhampirs, werewolves, demons, and of course humans. Add in the normal teen angst, as well as the rivalries and grudges between and among the various families and supernatural factions and atmosphere at St. Bastian's and the city of Tribane is ripe for conflict! Foretold introduces some fascinating characters: Darya, a dhampir and the daughter of Ethan and Tegan; her older sister Rebecca, a new teacher at St. Bastian; her best friend and cousin Grace; Grace's neighbor Nic; and Peter, a warlock and the great-nephew of Marcel Girard who had been an enemy of Darya's parents. As a murder occurs at St. Bastian's, Darya and Peter are drawn together as they work together with Darya's friends and family to solve the mystery and stop the threat to the peace in Tribane. As they spend time together, they soon become friends, and then begin a romance. This is a fun, suspenseful read, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Foretold is the latest novel in L.H. Cosway’s paranormal world that began with the Blood Magic Series. As a reader, it was very helpful to have read those four books beforehand but not absolutely necessary. This story’s heroine is Darya, a dhampir which means she is half human and half vampire. We met her parents Ethan and Tegan in the Blood Magic Series. They return as well as several other characters from those books. Darya is eighteen and at St. Bastian Institute where she is learning to use her skills and powers. Think of it as an average high school but with additional classes such as telekinetics and weaponry. As we get to know more about Darya, we find out that she is still discovering her abilities and how to best use them for good. During that discovery we also meet Peter, our hero, a warlock who has a complicated past. Darya and Peter become friends and then much more to each other. Their bond and love for each other was a joy to read about. My favorite parts were when they were able to listen to each other’s thoughts. Peter’s support is vital to Darya as she encounters many dangerous situations including the introduction of a nefarious vampire named Vasilios. Together they survive but will need to be even stronger for what I suspect will be a thrilling second book. As always, L.H.’s brilliant writing weaves together all these elements into a fantastic read that leaves you wanting more.

Worth the Wait! This book can be read as a standalone, however it would be better to read the Blood Magic Series which would enhance your understanding and enjoyment of this book. You certainly had to read the other books to understand her personality. I certainly expected a stronger character. Darya made up for any disappointments. She was all I expected her to be -totally fearless. I loved most of the new characters introduced in this book, especially Peter. I wanted more details about what had happened with the characters that I had come to love in the other books. More than 15 years had passed yet we weren't told anything that happened during those years. I really wanted more about Darya's parents and the other characters that figured so prominently in the Blood Magic Series. Because so little was told about what happened in those years, I rated this book 4 stars rather than 5. I loved the book and can't wait for the next one in this series. I received this book as an ARC and have evaluated it honestly.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An entertaining and addictive supernatural suspense If you’ve read and loved the Blood Magic series you will love this spin off novel following Ethan and Teagon’s daughter Darya. Someone excelling in Magic though, is her family’s enemy and secret crush Peter Girard. When circumstances (a murder in school), and a spell gone wrong push them together the story really picks up as they try to get one step ahead of demon tracking Darya. A super suspenseful supernatural read with a little added forbidden romance that was so sweet it made my heart go pitter patter. If you’re a fan of good versus evil, vampires, witches, warlocks and demons, then this could be the book for you. I loved it, an entertaining and additive story, and quite possibly one of my favourite young adult reads over the last year. A full five star read. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

I was so excited when L.H. Cosway announced this spin-off of her Blood Magic series! I really enjoyed the world building and characters in those books so I was curious to see what would happen next. Darya and Peter both attend St. Bastian's Institute and they had great chemistry. I’d almost recommend it for the young adult crowd except the sexual content is more on par with new adult. I am pleased to say I received an early copy and have provided my honest unbiased review.

The Blood Magic series is what started my love of pnr, so a spinoff is perfection. I was so excited to be back in Tribane for the next generation, and it did not disappoint. I love Darya and Peter with their sort-of star-crossed lovers' vibes being from opposing families. Peter is one of the softest and sweetest cinnamonrolls ever and I love him so much. There are so many world-building and familial ties established in that series, that you'll be missing out on a lot. Definitely recommend!

This was a fantastic read. The beginning was a little information heavy, but once I was past that, the story picked up very quickly. I loved the characters, and the romance was the perfect mix of sweet and cheesy and sexy. The mystery unfolded at a really good pace and kept me guessing right up until the very end. The ending did a nice job of tying up loose ends for this story while still leaving a very open door for the sequel, which I will definitely be reading when it comes out.
