With grim determination, Edmond Dantes plans to escape and find the treasure. There is some speculation that Alexandre Dumas was inspired to write The Count of Monte Cristo based on a true to life case of wrongful imprisonment. When released as a serial in the 1840s, The Count of Monte Cristo was wildly successful and is still one of the most beloved stories of all time. |
