| The term special needs is used to describe people who need help with a disability, which may be medical, psychological or spiritual in nature. These include autism, Down syndrome, dyslexia, blindness, cystic fibrosis etc. In an ideal world, every mother and father plans to raise their children for 18 years and then let them live their own independent lives for about 30 years in the hope that their children will return to care for them in their final years.
