«Ogni filosofia nasconde anche una filosofia: ogni opinione è anche un nascondiglio, ogni parola è anche una maschera». Andare «al di là» vuol dire scoprire «un mondo più vasto, più strano, più ricco al di sopra di ogni superficie, un abisso sotto ogni fondo, ogni “fondazione”». In questa osservazione di Nietzsche è racchiuso il tema dell’opera, fra le più celebri e importanti del filosofo tedesco.
Al di là del bene e del male, che riprende e amplia alcuni dei concetti già presenti in Così parlò Zarathustra, è considerato da molti il testo in cui Nietzsche raggiunge il suo stile migliore, accentuando, sul piano ideologico, la funzione positiva occulta e possente delle forze del male nella vita dell’uomo.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

nacque a Röcken, in Germania, nel 1844, e morì a Weimar nel 1900. Appassionato di musica, compì i suoi primi studi nel campo della filologia classica, pubblicando nel 1872 La nascita della tragedia dallo spirito della musica. Le sue opere esercitano ancora oggi una profonda influenza sul pensiero filosofico occidentale. La Newton Compton ha pubblicato L’Anticristo – Crepuscolo degli idoli – Ecce homo, Al di là del bene e del male e Così parlò Zarathustra nella collana GTE, i due volumi Opere 1870/81 e Opere 1882/95 e inoltre Aurora, La gaia scienza, Umano troppo umano, Verità e menzogna e Volontà di potenza.
