About Beatrix Potter
Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) wrote and illustrated many classic children’s books including The Tale of Benjamin Bunny.  Childhood pets and her love for animals greatly influenced the characters of her stories.  Inspiration also came from her family trips to Scotland and the English countryside. Beatrix wrote Benjamin Bunny in 1903 following the success of her first three books.  This story was meant to be simpler and to reintroduce Benjamin, Peter’s cousin, who was mentioned in The Tale of Peter Rabbit.  Beatrix’s first pet rabbit was named Benjamin when she was a child.
