Kent S. Jackson, Kali M. Hague, and C. Edward Young are attorneys with the Washington, D.C. based law firm Jetlaw, LLC. Mr. Jackson has written on aviation legal issues for Business & Commercial Aviation/Aviation Week since 1998. He is an Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor with flight experience in both Part 91 and 135 operations. KALI M. HAGUE is Partner and a commercial pilot and flight instructor. Ms. Hague helps her clients structure their business operations to maximize profitability while maintaining regulatory compliance. She works closely with DOT and FAA leadership and the aviation associations in Washington, D.C. to find elegant solutions to her client’s complex regulatory challenges. Ms. Hague assists her airport clients with lease negotiations, contract management, and compliance. She has experience with a variety of lease agreements, Part 16 actions, hangar construction, and compliance matters. Ms. Hague is a member of the NBAA Board of Directors. She has written feature articles for Business & Commercial Aviation, Airports, and Twin & Turbine, and she is a frequent speaker at industry seminars and events. C. EDWARD YOUNG is a Senior Attorney and a commercial pilot and flight instructor. Mr. Young served as the Director of Aviation of the Kansas Airport System. He assisted 145 airports in the application of Federal grant assurances, including direct assistance in the application of procurement requirements to airport projects of all sizes. Kansas received acclaim for developing airport planning tools in consumer available formats (i.e. GoogleEarth, ESRI, Sectional Charts) to assist airports in the explanation of complex aviation concepts, including zoning, pavement maintenance, economic impact, real estate restrictions, and height and hazard regulations. Mr. Young provides outside on-call counsel for a six-airport system with an international airport, a two-airport system including an international airport with a new terminal, and a number of airport authorities with large industrial components. Mr. Young was inducted into the Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame based on his work in airport planning and aviation education. The authors continually seek to advance the safety and growth of the industry through their participation on numerous industry committees, in rulemaking efforts, and by other means of advocacy.
