Welcome to the 2nd edition of Handbook of Good Research!
This handbook is all about good research. By the time you finished reading, or excerpting from, this handbook, you should be in a position to design, execute, and report good research, be it business, academic, contract, educational, private or any other type of research, or assess others’ research. This handbook is a one-stop-shop for students, policy-maker, and practitioners eager to learn (more) about how to conduct good research.
10 years after publishing the 1st edition (and briefly making it to the top 10 of paid textbooks on the Apple iBooks Store), it was about time to update and expand the Handbook, both technically and content-wise.
Technically, we converted the Handbook to the ePub format, migrating from the original iBooks Author format of the 1st edition. Moreover, we added a detailed table of contents.
Content-wise we significantly updated and expanded the Handbook, especially chapter 6, Data Analysis. We expanded the multivariate data analysis sections, moving beyond merely mentioning the various techniques. We added artificial intelligence (AI) applications where appropriate and we added a section on long and wide data format specifics. The data imputation section was expanded to cover new methods such as Predictive Mean Matching. We added a section covering text mining, including a note on big data and AI, and improved the structural equations modeling section. Most significantly, we added R code throughout the book. In total we added over 100 pages of content and over 100 examples of R code. Enjoy! |
