This text contains Mary Shelley's infamous horror fiction, Frankenstein. Frankenstein tells the story of a precocious scientist who employs his scientific know-how and penchant for unconventional experiments to create a living being from dead tissue. Contrary to his initial designs, he creates an eight foot tall monstrosity from which he flees after realising his mistakes; ashamed at his creators reaction, the monster does similarly. What follows is a tale of misunderstood motives, murder, and revenge, resulting in the desperate attempts of the scientist to peruse his creation to the ends of the earth in order to exact vengeance. Shelley began work on Frankenstein when she was just 18, and the novel was originally published anonymously when she was twenty. Mary Shelley (1797 – 1851) was an English novelist, dramatist, short story writer, essayist, biographer, and travel writer. We are proud to republish this antique text now complete with a new introductory biography of the author.
